'Like I Never Left' - This Year's Top R&B/Pop Comebacks

Now that we’ve covered a few of 2009's most anticipated comeback albums, especially those from T-Boz, Kelly Price and Silk, it’s time for part 2 of ‘Like I Never Left’.

Keeping in mind that we’ve got some ways to go, let’s dig right into more anticipated releases including the return of entertainment diva Jennifer Lopez and the long-awaited return of Maxwell!

“On The 6,” “This Is Me... Then,” “Rebirth,” and “Brave” are all albums that have been released since Jennifer Lopez hit the scene in 1999 so it seems fitting, 10 years later, that she release a Greatest Hits album right?

According to Jennifer Lopez and Bryan Michael Cox, who spoke with Singersroom in November, Jennifer Lopez is doing just that.

Instead of releasing a normal Greatest Hits project, the former “If You Had My Love” singer is coming strong with a few new singles including a Bryan Michael Cox tinged cut, with hopes that she’ll reignite the fire she once had on the charts.

While little is known about Lopez’s “Greatest Hits” effort, sources believe the effort will allow Lopez to mount a comeback of sorts since her last album “Brave (2007)” was graded less than stellar. The effort, which was led by the single “Do It Well,” was given a C rating at Entertainment Weekly where Jonathan Bernstein wrote “Expensive beats and uplifting material are offset by listless vocals”.

Jennifer Lopez’s “Greatest Hits” is slated to hit stores sometime this Spring.

With J. Lo coming back in the spring, her once chart-topping and red carpet rival (sans an attempt at a dress similar to J.Lo’s much-talked-about red carpet gown a few years back) Toni Braxton is also readying a serious comeback after having a stellar 2008.

J.Lo confirms 2nd Pregnancey?

Ok guys, dont shoot the messenger...

It was just announced on the XM Satellite radio station, The Heat, that Jennifer Lopez confirmed her pregnancy. We do not know how true this is, and have not read or heard of this in any other media so take this with a grain of salt. The DJs may have just been reporting gossip. Although, MediaTakeOut did report this rumor as well, but did not report a conformation of this. Here is there report on the subject...

"MediaTakeOut just received word from a VERY trusted source that Jennifer Lopez is pregnant.

Congrats J Lo .. but this sure makes the whole marriage drama with hubby Marc Anthony a little more interesting."

Fan Meets J.Lo for Fashion Week

J.Lo, You Look Beautiful

...and that, is how yours truly struck up a conversation with La J-Lo at the W Hotel lounge backstage at Fashion Week here in New York. Note to self: if you want to befriend a diva, compliment her in a romance language.

Rumor had it that the lounge had been cleared out for Jenny from the Block prior to the Diane Von Furstenberg show. But with the flowy, floral print spectacular well underway, my friends and I were able to perch ourselves in the sleek white-and-purple hospitality suite. With news that homegirl was breathing the same air as me, it was all I could do to contain myself, sitting with my boyz, where the hell is Jennifer Lopez? Is she really under this tent? Why am I not next to her? James go find her! Ahhhhh!!!!), I kept looking over my shoulder, jumping in my seat each time the door opened to reveal the snap of camera flashes.

I looked up at the plasma screens and caught DVF taking her bow - suddenly a sycophantic clap erupted in the lounge (we were out of the designer's sight and earshot) - and as I turned to poke fun at the silly fashionistas, Jennifer Lopez plopped herself on a couch in front of us.

Short, light-brown hair, patent leather booties and a slate-gray mini dress -- the makings of a forgettable hazard on anyone else trying to toter into the tents, but on divinity incarnate, it elicited a squeal, a gasp, and a splash of my Veuve Clicquot on James' lap.

And then she looked at me.

My posse huddled over me to contain what was certain to be my implosion, but being the baddest PR in PR that I am (that's Puerto Rican in public relations), I knew that by pulling myself together I would win Jenny's heart.

I looked over at La Diosa (The Goddess) and we caught each other's eyes again.

"Te ves hermosa."

You look beautiful.

"Thank you!"

At this point J-Lo had put her i-Phone down and was chatting with another lovely, bejewelled Latina.

"How are the kids?" I asked.

She smiled, "they're great, show him the pictures."

Jaw drops.

Her friend, the lovely bejewelled Latina, pulled out her i-Phone and summoned me over. I'm now standing next to J-Lo and she's showing me pictures of her kids and her mom.

"Aren't they cute? You can't ask a mom about her kids and not have her show you the pictures."

"And how's their dad?" (Can I keep a conversation going or what?)

"He's fine, we're doing fine."

Now, I've played this scene, this encounter with Jennifer Lopez and the circumstances that would lead up to me chatting with her, so many times in my mind but it never once occurred to me that she would be so....devastatingly human.

You would think she'd be in a hurry to get away from me, but no, we were just chatting about her mom and her kids. But as the conversation was about to come to an end...

"I know you're busy but I just have to tell you a quick story. A few years ago when I started working in PR I called my mom to complain about my job and tell her how much I hated it, to which she said 'Davicito, do you think La J-Lo had it easy?'"

A devastatingly human diva could only do one thing: she laughed and said "No she didn't! That's so sweet. And it's true, it's not easy out there."

We nodded at each other in that knowing way of two Latinas who are doin' their thing and doin' it well.

She then reached over to grab her bag, "it was nice meeting you, enjoy the shows," she said as she leaned over and gave me a kiss...

...and then she posed for a pic with me.

J.Lo's Fan Story & Pic

Story By JGriff

"Now this is kind of funny. I was in town for A Jennifer Lopez concert. I got the chance to see Marc and Jennifer prior to the concert. Normally J Lo is pretty tough to meet, so when her and Marc Anthony came out I started to ask J Lo if she could pose with me, and I could see she wasn't going to stop. So at this point Marc was walking in front of her. I quickly turned to Marc and asked him if he minded posing with me, in hopes of him getting Jennifer to stop as well. The plan worked Marc said yes and they both stopped. The thing is im not a fan of Marc Anthony and I have no intrest in having a photo with him, so I got in between the couple and politely asked Marc if I could pose with just Jennifer. He seemed to be upset, but he then moved out of the photo and J Lo posed with me."

Jennifer Lopez star struck when she met US President Barack Obama

The singer-and-actress attended the Latino Inaugural Gala in Washington, D.C. and admitted Obama was the only person she was interested in meeting.

She said: “He is the biggest star here, even though it's chock-full of celebrities. The night he won the election, you could feel it in the air. I was watching him with tears in my eyes, thinking, 'Yes. Something is different. Something is happening.' We're very excited.”

Other stars who attended the event included actress Rosario Dawson and singer Shakira, who was also delighted to meet the politician.

Ashton Kutcher has also pledged his support to Obama and has encouraged other famous faces to do the same.

The 30-year-old actor’s company Katalyst Media has teamed up with MySpace to ask celebrities to record video messages of support for the politician.

Ashlee Simpson – who gave birth to son Bronx Mowgli in November – promised to be a “great mother”, while Eva Longoria vows to “plant 500 trees this year to help our planet”.

Eva Mendes states: “I pledge to volunteer more of my time to help children battling serious illnesses.”
